I figured out the actual problem that I was having that was really causing me want to use a QM equivalent with Numbers. For regression and a few other options in QM, the solver button was not available. I had to find the plug-ins and turn on the solver plug-in. However, that didn't solve everything. I also had to download a plug-in that was no longer available through the Excel updates. I had to download StatPlus:macle, which isn't really a plug-in. I runs along with Excel.
Yeah, I already have the QM for Mac download and have been trying to use it. I had also already downloaded the update from that site you shared. However, there is an important feature missing- the Solve icon. I can't figure out how to fix that little issue. And, I would rather use Numbers out of preference. Although, of Microsoft problems, I mean products, I think Excel is my favorite. I had not thought of trying to open the .xla with Numbers. I will try that later and post results.

OpenSolver is being developed by Andrew Mason in the Department of Engineering Science at the University of Auckland, and Iain Dunning. Kat Gilbert also made valuable contributions to the code while working as a summer student. Current development is lead by Jack Dunn from MIT. Development of OpenSolver is made easier by the excellent Excel Name Manager which displays all the hidden worksheet names used to store an optimization model. 2ff7e9595c
